Hello all, Sorry I have not wrote much lately as been away the last two weekends. I am currently down in St Ives, Cornwall. Having a lovely time so far. Been round the shops, had a lovely dinner last night which we had a seafood platter for two and chocolate pudding for dessert. Today we have been to Lands End, and are now currently in the car driving to somewhere else. We don't have a clue where we are heading but that's the fun part of it until we get lost. I will post more tomorrow on the journey home.
The last few weeks have flown by so quickly. Now the flat is sold and the solicitors are doing their stuff, it was panic time for me and Lewis but a couple weeks ago we went to view a house which we never intended on liking but thought we could then cross it off the list. Well that house is now in the process of becoming our family home. It was just perfect in every way and I we wanted it. So put in our offer and now we are awaiting the solicitors to start the paperwork.
Last week I managed to get all this packing material for FREE!! It is amazing the stuff you can find looking around on selling websites.
I found these boxes and the wrapping material on gumtree and it was about a 20mile drive to collect them but it was cheaper then buying them brand new.
I also brought markers, highlighter pens, labels and packing tape.
My most precious thing to being organised is my ring binder dedicated to moving. It contains my timescale, checklist, important numbers, estate agent information and the solicitor information.
I have set a page with the information of the colour coded rooms.
Here is all the different pages I have in the folder:
Selling timeframe,
Purchase timeframe,
Viewing properties information,
House packing / decluttering information,
Moving day / moving tips information,
Moving house checklist x2,
Change of address list.
In the next section is my decorating ideas. It has five sheets of each colour to represent the rooms. I have started with paint ideas so far and will soon put furniture and renovation ideas.
My craft room colours, I am imagining one wall striped pink and off white and the rest white.
I will post back tomorrow with more tips and an update. Also I will post the documents to share with you all.
Much love Sophie x
I can not believe that there is only another 11 days until September arrives, Christmas will soon be upon us. Just a small update on my life in the last week. I had a whole weekend off and declined any work I got called up for and for those two days Lewis and I packed up the spare room, most stuff in the hall and all the small pieces in the lounge. I emptied the entire kitchen into fold-able crates and deep cleaned the cupboards, I have told Lewis that nothing is going back in them as it took quite a lot of elbow grease.
My calender seems rather busy in the next couple of weeks. Lewis, myself and his parents are off to CarFest this weekend, then next weekend Lewis is taking me for a weekend away to St Ives to relax and forget about work, moving and everyday stress'. Then we have that following week off to pack the big furniture and we are hoping that the solicitors might be near the end of sorting contracts.
The flat at the moment looks and feels like a tip, you start packing one room and find stuff that should go in another room. Then you have small bits that are to small for a box but have no place to hid away. And all the packed boxes just stacked in the corner. I will be glad for when we move some of them tostorage Lewis' parents dining room so I can see what else needs packing. I just wish there was more time in the day because as soon as I start a room and get close to finishing its time to go to work or bed so then I have to leave it for the next day and the same thing happens again. I am lucky though to work mainly evening shifts as I can pack most things whilst Lewis is at work so he doesn't tell me how to pack.
On the agenda today is to relax this morning, tidy up the place and then to pack the last bits and pieces that I can do on my own. Lewis thinks we have packed to soon as we haven't been told a date just yet, but with being away for two weekends in a row and only be home together for two evenings during the week, it does not leave us much time and instead of rushing to pack everything once we know a date, it will all be done and we can focus on all the paperwork instead. I am a genius sometimes :).
I have created another page which contains documents that you can download if you are moving as well to help you.
Much Love Sophie x
